ALBUM NOTES |
SONUS BRASS was formed in 1987 by five highly successful brass performers/teachers in order to share their own close friendship and their love of music and brass ensemble playing with audiences throughout the world and to help brass players of all levels achieve a higher artistic standard of brass performance and musical interpretation. In addition, it has always been the goal of SONUS BRASS to bring to their concerts and seminars an international feeling of good will and to create lasting friendships through teaching and performing.
The members of SONUS BRASS collectively have over one hundred and seventy-five years of college teaching and professional playing experience. They have performed with SONUS BRASS and as soloists or chamber musicians, and presented master classes in many foreign countries including Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Czech Republic, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Finland, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, Venezuela, and Brazil. Since its inception, SONUS BRASS has made three tours to Asia (1990, 1992) and four tours to Venezuela (1996, 1998, 2001, 2003), which have included extensive teaching seminars and numerous concerts. In addition to performances at festivals and universities in the United States, SONUS BRASS has also appeared several times at major international brass conferences: TUBA Conference (1992), the International Trumpet Guild Conference (1999, 2001) and the International Brass Chamber Music Festival (2009). Their first CD, CAPTURED! was released to critical acclaim in 1992 by Mark Records. |
