ALBUM NOTES |
Jesus was a masterful storyteller. He used stories to help people connect with and understand God. Storytelling is a uniquely human endeavor - stories draw us in, spark our imagination, help us relate to people different than ourselves, provoke us to think and act, and teach us profound lessons. Jesus stories point to Gods ultimate story - one of creation, disobedience, forgiveness and restoration. At Messiah University, we think this is the best story ever told, and that all of humanity is included in this life-changing narrative.
The Messiah University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers are honored share these musical stories of faith with you. Pairing brilliant musical composition with profound text illuminates themes of beauty, truth, goodness, self-sacrifice, love, anticipation and redemption. Some pieces tell old stories - the bravery of Joan of Arc, the love of Ruth and Boaz, the betrayal and tragedy of David and Absalom. Other pieces recount newer stories - a Christian response to the 2016 Paris bombings and contemporary settings of great hymns and spirituals. Many pieces chronicle the life of Jesus - his birth, death, resurrection, and our hope in his future restorative return. We pray these stories resonate in your ears, animate your minds and edify your hearts as they have ours.
