ALBUM NOTES
Hear University of Florida trumpet professor Randy Lee tuneful tribute to his own musical heritage. Joining him in this endeavor are the UF Wind Symphony (Dr. David Waybright and guest conductor Jay Watkins), the UF Concert Choir (Dr. Will Kesling), UF Brass Band (Dr. Danielle VanTuinen), Naples Brass (Steve DeLadurantey), and many more UF music colleagues from the brass, string, and keyboard areas, as well as guest bass-baritone soloist, Dr. Tony Offerle, as they bring to life the forgotten but rich brass musical traditions of the early Pioneer Latter-Day Saints. Coming directly from England and other parts of Europe, band leaders and skilled performers, as well as amateurs, converged to create a brass golden age through the 1850s-70s and beyond throughout what is now modern Utah. Hear solos based on what British convert and skilled cornetist Mark Croxall performed (principal cornet of the Salt Lake Theatre Orchestra and leader of the Croxall Brass Band), as brought back to life.
