Hymns have been a huge influence in my life since early childhood days.
I grew up in a wonderful small town in New York State which had a wonderful small church - a pretty white structure with a steeple and bell which was rung every Sunday morning. It was picturesque to be sure, but it was so much more!
It was a place where I learned about Jesus and His love. That He loved me and gave His life for me.
The teaching and preaching were wonderful, from caring Sunday School teachers to pastors who preached the gospel faithfully, week after week, year after year.
A big part of church life was singing and oh, how we sang!! Standing in the pews, I could hear some off-key notes once in a while but we sang with heart and volume! We sang mostly hymns - rich in theology and practical ways of living out ones faith. So many wonderful truths. So many beautiful melodies and lyrics that are entrenched in my mind and heart. Singing them enhanced my understanding of God - who He is, what He is like and what He has done to demonstrate His love and faithfulness.
This CD project has been a labor of love -love for God and a desire to share that love through some of my favorite hymns that have ministered to me throughout my life.
Along with hymns, I love so many of the worship classics learned thru the years and have sought to blend them with hymns that share common themes.
My prayer is that these songs will be a blessing to you!
